Gnosis Guild

Abstract

In 2021, dOrg embraced the challenge of building the new and innovative Zodiac dApp, an expansion pack for DAOs, as well as Tabula.gg, a decentralized publication tool. After our first collaboration, we kept an ongoing partnership to support them with the development of next-generation products such as CRISP and Zodiac Pilot.

Our team has delivered end-to-end solutions: smart contracts, web3 integrations, and user-centered interfaces, that now secure billions in value and power mission-critical DAO workflows.

Background

Gnosis Guild was looking for a team to build and maintain Zodiac, a toolkit that extends Safe functionality for DAOs through modules within Safe's dApp. dOrg provided a full suite of development and maintenance services for Zodiac, specializing in front-end development, web3 integrations, smart contract engineering, and UX/UI design across all Zodiac modules.

In addition, through our ongoing partnership with Gnosis Guild and after a successful business relationship, we expanded our contributions to key Zodiac tools, including the Zodiac core SDK, enabling developers to encode, deploy, and verify Zodiac-compliant contracts seamlessly.

We also built CRISP, a coercion-resistant digital voting proof-of-concept, where our team provided comprehensive UI/UX design, front-end integration of WebAssembly cryptographic libraries, and end-to-end web3 implementation, resulting in Enclave, a new vertical of Gnosis Guild.

Furthermore, we collaborated closely on Zodiac Pilot, a browser-based application integrating Safe execution into decentralized applications, offering powerful batching capabilities, programmable permissions, and a secure simulation sandbox to safely streamline treasury and governance workflows for DAOs.

Team

dOrg provided specialists in front-end development, Web3 integrations, smart contract engineering, and UX/UI design to achieve our objectives in building and maintaining the Zodiac dApp, Zodiac-Core SDK, CRISP, and Zodiac Pilot. With a proven track record in the Web3 ecosystem, we were able to rapidly match highly skilled talent from our extensive pool of builders to the evolving requirements of Gnosis Guild.

A dedicated Tech Lead was assigned to ensure code quality, detailed documentation, and rigorous testing across all products. Additionally, a Project Manager coordinated smooth collaboration, which included sprint scheduling, structured feedback sessions, resource allocation, and comprehensive reporting. Throughout the entire engagement, we worked closely with the Gnosis Guild core team to guarantee alignment and continuous satisfaction.

Focus Areas

dOrg began by focusing on front-end development for the Gnosis SafeSnap plugin for Snapshot, aligning closely with the Gnosis DAO Tools backlog. This initial collaboration evolved into a long-term partnership, in which dOrg expanded its contributions to include comprehensive product design, middleware, and backend development for Zodiac modules. Specifically, we improved the UX/UI of the Reality Module and related Zodiac components, implemented critical Solidity smart contract enhancements, integrated various DAO frameworks, and built robust subgraphs for data indexing.

Additionally, we significantly contributed to the Zodiac-Core SDK, developing TypeScript tooling to simplify the encoding, deployment, and verification of Zodiac modules for developers across the ecosystem.

Our team also took on the CRISP project, providing end-to-end delivery, including full UI/UX design, integration of WebAssembly cryptography libraries, and complete web3 integrations, for a coercion-resistant voting proof-of-concept leveraging fully homomorphic encryption.

Furthermore, we collaborated closely on Zodiac Pilot, assisting Gnosis Guild and ecosystem partners with front-end engineering, Web3 integrations, and UI design. Pilot is a sophisticated browser-native tool enabling multi-step transactions within Safe accounts directly from dApp interfaces. This application offers powerful transaction batching capabilities, programmable permissions, and an integrated simulation environment to securely test transactions before execution.

Business Objectives

The primary goal of dOrg's collaboration with Gnosis Guild was to design, develop, and continuously enhance the Zodiac ecosystem: a robust framework that empowers decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) to securely and efficiently manage their on-chain governance, treasuries, and operations through modular tools integrated within Safe accounts.

Key success metrics achieved through this partnership include:

• $3.5 Billion+ total transacted value facilitated via Zodiac-enabled tools.
• $498 Million+ currently secured by Zodiac contracts co-developed by dOrg
• 1.3 Million+ secure, successful on-chain transactions processed without critical incidents.

These measurable results underscore the significant impact and adoption of the Zodiac suite within the broader Web3 ecosystem, directly contributing to enhanced security, governance flexibility, and operational efficiency for leading decentralized organizations.
